A 40-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of causing the death of a 10-year-old girl by dangerous driving has been released under investigation.
Officers responded to reports of a collision involving two children and a black BMW i40 at Kendal Rugby Union Football Club, Shap Road, just before 5pm on Wednesday (5 March).

Ten-year-old Poppy Atkinson, from Kendal, died at the scene. A second girl, an eight-year-old also from Kendal, was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Cumbria Police say enquiries into the circumstances of the incident continue.
A 40-year-old man from Lancaster was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving following the incident.
Cumbria Police confirmed today he has now been released under investigation.
