As Clayton McMillan watched on from his sick bed, his side’s second-half surge at Sky Stadium would have proved quite the remedy.
The ill Chiefs coach was absent from Saturday’s Super Rugby Pacific blockbuster against the Hurricanes in Wellington, but his players rose to the occasion, overpowering their hosts 33-17 on the back of a superb 25-src second-half showing.

Bouncing back from the bye can be troublesome, but the Chiefs picked up where they left off, making it seven from seven for the season, and returning to the top of the ladder with what was their fourth win on the trot against the Canes.
In front of a healthy 16,577 crowd who lapped up afternoon footy – which was of course by fortune rather than design – the Chiefs ran in four tries to two after fighting back from some first-half troubles.
