The players who have just weeks to convince Warren Gatland they are worth World Cup shot

Wales are deep into their preparations for the Rugby World Cup with one gruelling training camp in the town of Fiesch in Switzerland already done.

This weekend Warren Gatland will take his extended squad to their second camp in Turkey before three warm-up Tests against England (twice), and South Africa, respectively. He will then name his final 33-man squad for the World Cup.

The New Zealander will no doubt have the majority of his squad pencilled in but there are still a few spots up for grabs. WalesOnline run the rule over the players who are in the 5src/5src camp when it comes to World Cup selection, and need to push the boat out to impress Gatland.

Tom Rogers

The Scarlets have high hopes for dangerous the 24-year-old Tom Rogers but he may have to wait until the next World Cup cycle to make his mark on the international circuit. Liam Williams is highly likely to be Gatland’s first-choice full-back at the World Cup while Leigh Halfpenny remains in contention.

The presence of Josh Adams and Louis Rees-Zammit who can also play full-back along with Dragons speedster Rio Dyer, and the experienced Alex Cuthbert also vying for a place in the back-three means Rogers is really up against it. Still, injuries can happen, and if Rogers impresses
