Louis Rees-Zammit scored Wales’ first try in a 28-8 win over Portugal – and channelled his inner-Cristiano Ronaldo in celebration.

The Dragons were expected to trounce Portugal in their Rugby World Cup group stage match, but the Iberian country mustered a decent fight.

Playing in their first-ever World Cup, defeat was always going to be difficult to avoid, but Portugal did not disgrace themselves against the 2019 semi-finalists.

However, they conceded a try after just eight minutes when Jac Morgan found Rees-Zammit in space on the wing.

The Gloucester star gathered up Morgan’s kick before grabbing the opening try to set the Welsh up for victory.

But to really rub salt in the wounds, Rees-Zammit then celebrated in the same style as Portugal icon Ronaldo, pulling out his iconic ‘Siu’ celebration.

Ronaldo and Mane are football's unlikeliest bromance but fans are all for it

Ronaldo is arguably the biggest sportsperson Portugal have ever produced and is, without a doubt, a legend in football.

He holds the record for the most international goals in men’s football, having scored 123 times for the Selecao.

And the 38-year-old has also won the Ballon d’Or five times, as well as many Champions League titles.

Portugal, though, were not best pleased after being mocked, with Leigh Halfpenny converting the subsequent try.

Rees-Zammit has been tipped to be one of the young stars of the World Cup this year and there are not many who can keep up with the 22-year-old.

The winger has already made 25 caps for Wales – scoring 11 tries – and is renowned for his searing pace and remarkable strength.

And he is just one of several starlets in the Cymru clan, along with Morgan, Taine Basham and Christ Tshiunza.

Following their vital 32-26 win over Fiji in their opening group stage match, Wales are well-positioned to advance to the knockout round.

A win over Australia next would firmly put them at the top of Group A going into their last match against Georgia.
