- SA Rugby director of rugby Rassie Erasmus confirmed that wing Makazole Mapimpi will miss the rest of the World Cup after sustaining a facial injury against Tonga on Sunday.
- Mapimpi came off the field in the 28th minute after he collided with Tongan scrumhalf Augustine Pulu.
- Mapimpi suffered a fractured eye-socket and blowout fracture of the cheekbone, an injury that will leave him out of action for four to six weeks.
