PARIS. – World Rugby’s stonewall of silence around the Bongi Mbonambi alleged racial slur matter was reinforced on Tuesday afternoon when the organisation refused to provide an update on the matter.
World Rugby stated on Monday that they had instituted a formal review to look at the racial slur allegations levelled by England flank Tom Curry towards Mbonambi from Saturday’s Rugby World Cup semi-final between South Africa and England at the Stade de France.
Tuesday’s press conference at the Roland Garros Tennis Centre, which also houses the Rugby World Cup media centre, saw the question being posed twice to World Rugby chairperson Bill Beaumont and chief executive officer Alan Gilpin.
