It wasn’t pretty, but the Stormers won the first game of their two-leg overseas United Rugby Championship tour on Friday evening in Newport, Wales, when they beat a plucky Dragons side, 44-21, to keep their playoff hopes alive.

It was a match in which the Stormers blew more cold than hot, and the handling errors, poor ball protection, and sloppy defence that have plagued their season continued unabated.
