Ron Lynch: Football community grieves the loss of an iconic figure revered as an exceptional player who participated in 238 matches and excelled on the international stage.

Ron Lynch, a distinguished figure in Australian rugby league and a legend for the Parramatta Eels, has passed away at the age of 84. 

Lynch, affectionately known as ‘Thirsty’, succumbed to a long illness in a Sydney hospital on Sunday. 

Born in the NSW town of Young, Lynch’s illustrious career spanned over a decade at Parramatta, where he played 194 first-grade games from 1961 to 1971, additionally representing City, Country and NSW. 

Following his time with Parramatta, Lynch played 44 games for Penrith, bringing his total first-grade matches to 238 with 38 tries.
