Excitement is building as Machakos County prepares to host the 2024 Safari Sevens rugby tournament, the first one to be held outside of Nairobi since inception.

Kenya Rugby Union partnered with Kenya Breweries Limited, through its flagship Tusker brand, to ensure a memorable experience for fans and all those involved in the event.

The company invested KSh 22 million into the tournament.

Tusker Marketing Manager Christine Kariuki said that the sponsorship aimed to enhance the fan experience, support the participating teams, and help the event grow even further in stature.

“Through this sponsorship, we aim to enhance the overall experience for fans, players, and teams, offering not just top-tier rugby but also great entertainment through sponsoring the entertainment village with top artists and DJs. Our goal is to make the 2024 Safari Sevens a memorable occasion for everyone involved,” Christine Kariuki, Tusker Marketing Manager

The event is scheduled to kick off on Friday, October 11, at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos County.

How Safari 7s will benefit Machakos

Speaking on Thursday, October 3, during the tournament’s announcement, KRU Vice Chairman Moses Ndale said the partnership will enhance the economy of Machakos County.

“Through the partnership we have with EABL, we want to improve the economy of Machakos County through this tournament,” said Ndale.

Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti warmly invited rugby lovers from across the globe to participate in this historic event, assuring them that Machakos is ready to host a spectacular tournament.

“We are thrilled to welcome the Safari Sevens to Machakos. This is a momentous occasion for our county, and we are pulling out all the stops to ensure it is a success. We invite rugby fans from all over to come and enjoy this incredible event,” said Governor Ndeti.

As the first-ever Safari Sevens to be held outside Nairobi, this year’s event is sure to be one for the history books.
