They arrived at the scene with equipment to open the malfunctioning lift door by prying it open and keeping it steady during the situation.

Taking to X, they said: “Donnybrook firefighters were called to release a rugby team from a malfunctioning lift.

“The lift was rated for 500kg, it had a team of ten rugby players from New Zealand in it…….”

It is believed to be a lighthearted tease on the rugby teams for All Blacks and New Zealand based on their ongoing luck in the rugby tournaments.

The women’s New Zealand Rugby team played against Ireland in the opening WXV1 clash in Vancouver earlier this week.

Ireland pulled off an all-time classic result in beating reigning World Champions, New Zealand, indicating that Ireland may be the next World Champions.

And Ireland is all set to face off with New Zealand on November 8, which the fire crew is rubbing in their face, saying that Ireland will win due to their bad luck – hence the malfunctioning lift with a group of New Zealand rugby players.

People were left laughing at the fire crew’s lighthearted joke about the New Zealand rugby teams.

One person wrote: “Their line-out badly needs to reassess their rugby “lifting” technique.”
