A rugby club’s new stand is to be named after a former player and club president who died in 2018.

Ripon Rugby Club will name their 100-seat stand in memory of ex-captain Tim Wray, who bequeathed money to the club to improve facilities.

The scheme, which is supported by Mr Wray’s family, will also see new dugouts, a tractor shed and a rearranged car park at the Mallorie Park Drive ground.

The club was founded in 1886 and has more than 800 members, with two men’s teams and one women’s team, as well as boasting one of the largest junior sections in the north of England.
