Scotland qualify for Rugby World Cup 2025

The final teams that will also qualify through the WXV competition as the remaining five top-ranked sides within the WXV 2 and WXV 3 tiers, who had yet to qualify, will be determined upon the competition’s conclusion.

Scotland missed out on retaining the WXV 2 title after losing out to Australia in the final round of the competition, narrowly defeated 31-22 in an eight-try thriller in Cape Town.

Scotland had won their two other tournament games over Italy and Japan, with the Scots recording their first ever shut out against the Italian (0-19).

All eyes will now turn to the Rugby World Cup draw, which will be held at the BBC’s Broadcasting House and broadcast live on The One Show, one of the UK’s most-watched primetime programmes, airing from 6pm BST on Thursday 17 October.

This marks a key milestone for the tournament, set to be the largest sporting event in England in 2025. For those outside the UK, the draw will be streamed live at 6.20pm BST on RugbyPass TV.

Following the draw, the match schedule will be released on Tuesday 22 October.
