Liam Williams, Alex Cuthbert and Josh Adams have suggested that Shane Lewis-Hughes could earn a Wales place again after a great start to his season.

On the latest episode of the Sportin Wales podcast, Adams and Williams were interviewed by Cuthbert, who is a co-founder of the company.

On the topic of those performing well in Welsh rugby, and more specifically at Dragons RFC, the trio discussed the chances of Lewis-Hughes, who earned the his three caps for Wales four years years ago.

“Crazy Shane has actually started really well,” explained Adams.

Cuthbert added: “I was about to say, he’s one of my players to watch. I think that (Dragons) was a very good move for him.”

Adams added: “He’s actually started really well, fair play to him. He’s someone who could… the back row (for Wales) is heavily contested, there are so many good players.”

Cuthbert: “You think, you’ve got Jac Morgan, Tommy Reffell, (Aaron) Wainwright, if Toby’s (Faletau) back fit. Jim Botham as well, who is a serious athlete.”

The Coleg Y Cymoedd product was first selected to play for his country under previous boss Wayne Pivac, but has unfortunately not yet earned a call-up by the returning Warren Gatland.

Lewis-Hughes left hometown club of Cardiff Rugby to join east Wales region Dragons earlier in the summer, and has been flourishing at his new club.

Still just 26, the dynamic back-rower could offer Gatland yet another option in the loose forward trio. Depending on injuries to other players, he could be in for a shout for a place on the autumn internationals squad.

The Pontypridd-born man has suffered with injuries himself in recent years, and upon signing for Dragons, he explained the significance of them on his career to date.

“It has been a really tough few years with injuries, which has stopped me reaching the levels I know I am capable of,” he explained.

“Dragons have put faith in me to add value to the club and I can’t wait to get started. My desire is to be the best rugby player I can possible be and there is so much potential at my new club.

“I know there is a huge amount of talent in the back row at Dragons, so I want to challenge myself in that environment.”
