SIXTEEN TRIES.

84-0.

Six tries for Julia Robinson alone. Five for Jakiya Whitfeld, two each for Tamika Upton and Isabelle Kelly, one for Tiana Penitani and one for Jess Sergis.

Outlandish stuff.

Isabelle Kelly finally finishes things off

I said Jess Sergis had closed it out, but I shouldn’t have doubted the Jillaroos’ ability to go the length of the field to score  and of course they go left.

This time Isabelle Kelly holds onto the ball, and fair enough too, although it would’ve been fun to see her pop the ball to the unmarked winger for a ridiculous seventh try.

69′ Tiana Penitani in serious trouble

As her teammates were flying upfield, centre-cum-five-eighth Tiana Penitani was in the hands of trainers.

She’s down with what looks like a knee injury and she’s off the field, very gingerly.

Jess Sergis closes it out for the Jillaroos!

Everyone else in the back five had crossed and Jess Sergis finally gets on the board in the second last minute of the game.

The Aussies break from 15 metres out with Yasmin Clydsdale on the right wing. She bursts past one cover tackle and finds Jess Sergis looming up, albeit a little laboured, on the inside.

Make it six for Julia Robinson! And there’s the record

Millie Elliott is monstering the Orchids in the middle, but it costs PNG numbers out wide and again it’s summed up with a left-side shift to Julia Robinson.

I reckon Isabelle Kelly could’ve scored that herself, but she knows what people want to see.

And that’s a Jillaroos record for Julia Robinson, eclipsing the five scored by Sammy Bremner.

Another fifth and Whitfeld pulls even in the wingers’ race

The Jillaroos are scoring every set now and this time Tiana Penitani fires a cut-out ball to Jakiya Whitfeld, who pulls level with Julia Robinson with her fifth.

Another for Julia Robinson to take her tally to five

Loading

Tarryn Aiken sparks the short-side raid and loops a long ball out to Julia Robinson, who runs through Mala Mark to touch down for her fifth.

Somewhere, Jakiya Whitfeld is calling for a right-side shift.

57′ PNG look cooked

Fair to say I’m stating the obvious there, but the Orchids are taking an age to get back to halfway for the kick-off after all these tries.

The less professional outfit is blowing hard.

Whitfeld gets herself a fourth

Julia Robinson got her fourth earlier in the half, now the opposite winger Jakiya Whitfeld gets her fourth with another simple right-side shift.

The race continues with 19 minutes remaining.

50′ Fair strike rate for Australia

The Jillaroos have 18 complete sets in this game.

They have 11 tries.

Just seven complete sets have ended without a try.

Just about length of the field for Isabelle Kelly

PNG drops the ball on the Jillaroos’ tryline and they pack the scrum 10 metres out.

Centre Isabelle Kelly gets some more early ball and brushes Sareka Mooka, burns fullback Mala Mark and goes 90 metres to score under the posts.

Raise the bat, Jillaroos

The set starts with a brilliant charge off her tryline by Julia Robinson, and Quincy Dodd continues to momentum with a dummy-half scoot to break through the line.

Tiana Penitani flies up on the outside and the makeshift five-eighth is over for her first of the night, courtesy of her Cronulla teammate.

And that’s the 50 up for Australia!

42′ PNG is getting a roll on

A six again and now a penalty 20 metres out as Gloria Kaupa pins her ears back and is dragged down by Simaima Taufa, but she holds on too long.

Can the Orchids take advantage at long last?

Nope.

The last-tackle option is a pick and drive for Elsie Albert, who’s wrapped up and stopped a metre out.

The Jillaroos are jumping jumping

The rout continues as Tarryn Aiken puts in a crafty little chip for fullback Tamika Upton, who jumps and marks above her head and scores under the posts, just for something different.

Upton has two tries now. Can she catch the wingers with a hat-trick of her own?

39′ More pain for PNG

Back rower Emily Veivers can’t get back for the kick-off and she’s coming from the field. She can barely walk, holding what looks like a left hip as she limps from the field.

Her kick-offs have been some of the only bright spots in this game for the Orchids. Another rough blow.

FOUR FOR JULIA ROBINSON

The Broncos superstar pokes her nose in front of Jakiya Whitfeld in the try-scoring race, as a break down the right wing by Whitfeld ends with a left-side shift out to Robinson to dive in for her fourth try.

Lyiannah Allen is having a hell of a time out on that wing for the Orchids.

36′ We’re off and running in the second half

Tarryn Aiken kicks off for Australia and someone’s missed their brief to pick up the kicking tee. Someone on the support staff is going to be in trouble.

Understatement of the century?

“Strong start” may feel like an understatement for the Jillaroos considering they scored seven first-half tries, but the scary thing for PNG is the Aussies only completed at 65 per cent. If they hold on the ball better in this half, this scoreline could be anything.

HALF-TIME: The Jillaroos making it look easy, up 36-0 over PNG

Isabelle Kelly hugs Julia Robinson after a try for Australia against PNG.(Getty)

Well, look, not a lot to write home about their for PNG.

The Orchids were already battling, but losing Roswita Kapo for the last 10 minutes of that half put them knee deep in the mud and the Jillaroos showed no mercy.

Wingers Julia Robinson and Jakiya Whitfeld have three tries each and it’s no surprise because there’s an overlap every time they get within 20 metres of the tryline.

I said earlier the score won’t be as big as the 82-0 World Cup semifinal. Now, I’m not so sure.
