October 16th marked the beginning of an extraordinary journey for Accra Majestics, as they embarked on a groundbreaking youth rugby development project. This ambitious initiative aims to introduce the sport of rugby to various schools across municipalities, nurturing the next generation of Ghanaian rugby stars.
GA South Municipality: The Starting Point
Accra Majestics kicked off their project in the GA South Municipality, partnering with the Kofi Kwei Circuit PE Coordinator, Mr. Eric Kwadwo Antwi, and the Municipal authorities. The inaugural event saw over 50 enthusiastic girls and 50 boys from different schools gather to experience the thrill of rugby.
“We believe that every child deserves the opportunity to discover their potential, regardless of their background or circumstances,” said Rachel Ankomah, Founder of Accra Majestics. “Through rugby, we’re not only developing athletes but also shaping confident, disciplined, and passionate individuals.”
Community Engagement
Accra Majestics’ project focuses on:
1. Introducing rugby to schools, emphasizing fun and fundamentals.
2. Providing training and resources for Physical Education teachers.
3. Identifying and developing talented young players.
4. Fostering community engagement and social responsibility.
Mr. Eric Kwadwo Antwi, Kofi Kwei Circuit PE Coordinator, expressed his excitement about the initiative : “Accra Majestics’ expertise and passion for rugby will greatly benefit our students. We’re committed to supporting this initiative and watching our youth thrive.”
Municipal Support
The GA South Municipal authorities have pledged their support, recognizing the project’s potential to promote healthy lifestyles, teamwork, and character development among youth.
Expansion Plans
Accra Majestics aims to expand the project to other municipalities, reaching thousands of young Ghanaians and creating a lasting impact on the country’s rugby landscape.
