Newark Rugby Club colts remain unbeaten after 31-31 draw with West Bridgford

Newark Rugby Club’s colts team maintained their unbeaten record this season in a high-scoring 31-31 draw at West Bridgford on Saturday.

The colts were the only senior men’s team to play over the weekend as the RFU had scheduled a break in the league programme to coincide with England playing the All Blacks at Twickenham.

A late try from prop Spencer Syme-Nicholson and converted by Robbie Scoular grabbed Newark a draw to make it no defeats in nine matches so far this season.

Other tries for Newark came from Lenny Coen (2), Luis Pearson and Evan Marshall. Scoular kicked three conversions in all.

The club’s senior women’s squad also played, losing 15-10 at Long Eaton on Sunday.

The senior men’s team return to action this Saturday at home to West Bridgford, kick off 2.15pm.

Newark sit sixth in Regional Two Midlands North with three wins, three defeats and a draw from their opening seven games.

The 2nds also have a league match with a trip to Gainsborough in Counties Two Midlands East (North).
