Tadhg Furlong is set to miss out on Ireland’s much-anticipated showdown with New Zealand, according to a new report.

Andy Farrell will name his matchday squad on Wednesday for the first of the team’s Autumn Nations Series clashes.

The visit of the All Backs to Lansdowne Road on Friday night is set to be the most high-profile of the November tests and Farrell may be without one of his most tried-and-tested stars

According to The42, Furlong is set to miss out on the game due to a late injury issue. It is unclear whether the setback will affect further matches in November.

The 31-year-old has been a certain starter in the Irish front row for years and has amassed 78 caps at this stage.

The pack is set to come under considerable pressure from the All Blacks scrum but now Farrell may have to consider alternatives to the 31-year-old.

The next man up for the number 3 jersey is Connacht tighthead Finlay Bealham, as he is the most likely replacement.

Bealham will look face off against a New Zealand front row that will include Ethan de Groot, as the loosehead is expected to return despite being dropped for last Saturday’s win over England.

There are some major returns for Ireland on the cards following the summer Test series against the Springboks, including scrum-half Jamison Gibson-Park.

Mack Hansen is also primed for a comeback after a long-term absence that saw him miss the South Africa series as well as the Six Nations.
