Nathan Beardsley – sports scientist

Beardsley worked as Nottingham Forest’s head of sports science before joining England, initially working as a sports scientist with the men’s side before also taking on a strength-and-conditioning role after the Rugby World Cup.

Analysis

Carwyn Morgan – analyst

Previously an analyst for World Rugby and Bristol before working with England’s Under-18s, Morgan joined the senior team as a performance analyst back in 2016 and then took on the lead performance role in 2021, breaking down game footage to show where England can improve while identifying weaknesses in the opposition.

Joe Lewis – analyst

Outside of a spell with the Football Association working as lead analyst for the women’s football team, Lewis has switched between working for Scarlets and England, starting as a head analyst for the Welsh region before joining England from the FA in 2017. Lewis returned to the Scarlets as head of technical performance in 2021 but was back with England a year later, this time as training coordinator which includes planning the team’s sessions.

Medical

Katy Hornby – doctor

Hornby has been involved with the Rugby Football Union for over a decade, working with both men’s and women’s teams and also as a concussion specialist before becoming the men’s team’s full-time doctor at the start of 2023, while also working as a consultant for Harlequins.

Bob Stewart – physiotherapist

Starting his career as physio with Scotland in the late 1990s, Stewart spent nine years as Gloucester’s head of medical services and has been on five tours with the British and Irish Lions dating back to 2005. He joined England in 2016 before becoming medical lead for the men’s team in April last year.

Kate Davis – physiotherapist

With over 20 years’ experience having previously worked with Great Britain at Olympic Games, Davis has been with England for over a decade and also spent time with Bristol Bears. Her most recent role alongside England is working as head physiotherapist with the Birmingham Royal Ballet.

Mike Lancaster – physiotherapist

Lancaster spent 10 years with Worcester’s medical team, working as a consultant for England, before joining Aussie rules side Greater Western Sydney Giants. He returned from Australia to join Harlequins as head of medical services in 2019, before joining England as senior physiotherapist in June this year. England will also normally employ two soft-tissue therapists during each campaign.

Operations and logistics

Richard Hill – team manager

The Rugby World Cup winner joined England as a pathway player-manager back in 2008 before being appointed team manager by Eddie Jones back in 2016, with Hill maintaining England Rugby’s internal and external relationships and providing mentoring and support for players and management.
