A very sweet illusion, but then the Italian oval ball team had to surrender in a sold-out Allianz Stadium to the inexorable force of New Zealand. The Azzurri lead 3-0 on a free kick with Paolo Garbisi in the 3rd minute, the All Blacks equalise with a Beauden Barrett free kick in the 15th minute. A minute later another Garbisi kick arrives and it’s 6-3. In the 24th minute an easy central try by Roigard converted by Barrett, and it’s 6-10. The Azzurri resist for a long time, until Jordan’s try is converted. In the second half in the 70th minute Tele’a scores and Barrett doesn’t miss. In the 76th minute Menoncello takes flight and scores. Garbisi doesn’t hit the posts. Barrett takes advantage of an oversight and goes to mark, but doesn’t convert: it’s 11-29.
