Wales full-back Liam Williams has sealed a return to the Premiership after signing a deal to rejoin Saracens.
The exciting outside back has opted not to return to Japan for a second season with the Kubota Spears after a “whirlwind” couple of weeks for the veteran.
A whirlwind couple of weeks
The 33-year-old has instead signed with Saracens, helping the team deal with an injury crisis as Alex Goode has been ruled out for several months.
“The last few weeks have been a whirlwind for me in all honesty,” Williams said in a statement confirming his return to Saracens.
“My pregnant wife and I recently made the difficult decision not to return to Kubota Spears for a second season, a club that welcomed me so warmly 12 months ago after the World Cup.
“One of the Sarries management contacted my agent to see if I would be interested in finishing the season with them due to injuries within the squad, and it didn’t take long to say yes!”
During his first stint at Saracens, Williams helped the side seal the Premiership and Champions Cup double during the 2019/20 season having joined the side from Scarlets in 2017.
He would return to Wales in 2020 signing for Cardiff Rugby before heading to Japan after the 2023 Rugby World Cup and played six times for the side.

World-class player
The 91-Test cap international added that he is looking forward to returning to the London club after a successful first stint.
“I thoroughly enjoyed my previous time with the club. It was a special time in both my career as well as the club winning multiple trophies, and the unique culture of the club left a mark with me,” he said.
“I can’t wait to join the squad, following the birth of my first child, and help them achieve their goals.”
Meanwhile, Saracens director of rugby Mark McCall said that he is pleased to bring Williams back to StoneX Stadium, hailing the Welshman as a ‘world-class’ player.
“Liam had an incredible impact on our group both on and off the pitch during his first spell at Saracens. He is a world class player who has been at the top of his game for well over a decade now,” he said.
“The opportunity to bring Liam back to the club was a no-brainer for us and we can’t wait to see him back in the Saracens shirt.”
