Sale vs Leicester predictions
Sale have not been in the best of form but the return of their England contingent today could help the Sharks discover their bite against Leicester.
Director of rugby Alex Sanderson has recalled six Sale players who represented the Red Rose in this year’s autumn internationals, and four – Luke Cowan-Dickie, Asher Opoku-Fordjour, Tom and Ben Curry – start in the scrum, which should give the Sharks more punch and resilience in the forwards’ battle.
Sale have lost their last two Premiership outings, at Northampton and Bath, but a return to the Salford Community Stadium should boost their chances.
The Sharks have won each of their last seven home fixtures in all competitions, including a 31-22 triumph over the Tigers at the end of last season.
However, they will have to be at the top of their game to defeat Leicester, who have made a bright start to Michael Cheika’s reign with five wins from their first six Premiership matches.
Leicester have been particularly secure defensively this season, shipping just 107 points in those six league fixtures. So while Sale’s returning stars may just give them the edge this afternoon, don’t expect the Sharks to run away with it.
