A QUIRKY seasonal talk about the Turkey in Art and Life takes place in Rugby next week.
Tom Duncan, founder of Ciceroni Travel, will give the illustrated talk at the Benn Hall on Thursday (December 12) at 7.30pm.
The talk will offer an insight into the turkey as both the star of many Christmas feasts and a subject for artists, beginning with Christopher Columbus seemingly becoming the first European to see the ‘Indian peacock’ in 1502 when he landed at Cape Honduras, and discussing how it became a favourite food and favoured subject of artists through the centuries.
Entry costs £8 per person (£2 for students), including complimentary mince pies, sherry or orange juice.
