RUGBY Borough kept themselves firmly in title contention with a 2-1 home victory against GNG Oadby Town.

First-half goals from Brady Middleton and David Kolodynski put Borough in command before William Clarke pulled a goal back for the visitors after the break at Kilsby Lane.

The result means Rugby sit third in the United Counties League Premier Division South table, one point behind joint leaders St Neots Town and Aylestone Park with a game in-hand.

Borough took the lead when Middleton’s free-kick slipped through the hands of the Oadby goalkeeper and rolled through his legs and across the line.

And Rugby doubled their advantage as Kolodynski caught the goalkeeper off his line and lobbed the ball over his head.

Oadby cut the deficit when Clarke struck on 78 minutes as Borough held on to keep pace with the division’s leading sides.

Rugby are next in action against Northampton Sileby Rangers on Saturday, December 21 with kick-off at 3pm at Kilsby Lane.
