Scotland have named Saracens stand-off Fergus Burke in their 2025 Six Nations squad.
The New Zealand-born 25-year-old joined the English side as a replacement for Owen Farrell last summer.
Burke, who was born on New Zealand’s North Island, is eligible to play for Scotland through his Glaswegian grandfather.
Elsewhere, Gregor Townsend called up uncapped No. 8 Jack Mann, after a stand-out spell for Glasgow Warriors. He filled in for the injured Jack Dempsey at club level, who is fit enough to also be named in the squad.
While Bordeaux lock Jonny Gray declined a call-up for the Autumn Nations Series to focus on his club career after a long-term injury, he has returned to the squad for the Six Nations.
He earned the last of his 77 caps almost two years ago at home to Italy in March 2023, and appeared to have burned his bridges under Townsend when the head coach admitted his “disappointment” at the 30-year-old declining a call-up in October.
Another player handed a surprise call-up is 34-year-old Dave Cherry, who had not featured in a single squad since his premature 2023 World Cup exit, after suffering a concussion when falling on stairs at the team hotel in Nice.
Warriors centre Sione Tuipulotu, who captained Scotland for their November fixtures, will continue to lead the team. Finn Russell and Rory Darge are the vice-captains.
