Media & Communications Manager Marcus O Buachalla confirmed the update on X on Monday afternoon after some recent comments aimed at staff and players raised concern
It’s the first time in five years that the four-time European Cup winners have done so after some recent incidents across some of their online platforms.
Media & Communications Manager Marcus O Buachalla confirmed the update on X.
A statement read: “For the first time since 2015, we’ve turned comments off some of our posts on Leinster Rugby.
“I would hate to see the reaction if we lost a game.
“Or if our Head Coach didn’t look after the wellbeing of players under his care in team selection.”
O Buachalla went on to reply to a number of posts on X, and stated that that some personal attacks were being made to players and coaches online.
He added: “TBF – it’s not aimed at any one account(s) or fan base. But a growing trend amongst ‘supporters’ (some of Leinster’s included) to go after players/coaches and to make it personal.
“I’ve seen some brutal ‘takes’ in the last three years in particular.”
