BISMARCK, N.D. (KFYR) – The first four spots in the Division A girls state basketball tournament were solidified on Thursday night with region championship games.
Region 1:
Valley City advanced to the Division A state tournament for the second consecutive season by defeating Northern Cass 55-47.
Region 2:
Devils Lake advanced to the Division A state tournament for the consecutive season with a 65-31 win over Carrington.
Region 3:
Rugby defeated Turtle Mountain 46-38 to claim the Region 3 championship. The Panthers advanced to the state tournament for the sixth time since 2016.
Region 4:
Dickinson Trinity topped Hazen, 63-47 to get back to the state tournament for the first time since 2016. The Titans entered the region tournament as the third overall seed.
Four state qualifier games will be played on Saturday to determine the final four spots in the state tournament.
The state tournament is scheduled for March 6-8 in Minot.
