IRELAND have made a number of adjustments to their squad ahead of the vital Six Nations clash against France this weekend in Dublin.

But they will also be hoping to keep their Grand Slam chances alive in their second last game of this year’s competition.

Team skipper Cealan Doris is said to be making ‘positive strides’ after missing the Wales win.

Number eight Doris suffered a knee injury against Scotland on 9 February.

Jack Conan, who stepped in for Caelan Doris in Ireland’s win over Wales in round three, is also expected to recover from the back injury that forced him off early in the second half in Cardiff.

His Leinster team-mate Tadhg Furlong is in the running to face the French in Dublin.

Wexford prop Furlong has been struggling with calf issue.

He played just once for Leinster in the Champions Cup in January since mid-October.

Ciarán Frawley, who suffered a head injury in the Ireland A fixture against England A eight days ago, is on course to be available.

Max Deegan, Darragh Murray, Tommy O’Brien and Tom O’Toole have all been added to the squad after also featuring in that game.

An IRFU statement today read: “Max Deegan, Darragh Murray, Tommy O’Brien and Tom O’Toole have all been added to the squad after featuring for Ireland ‘A’ last weekend.

“Ireland captain Caelan Doris continues to make positive strides and it is hoped that he will be available for selection alongside Jack Conan.

“Tadhg Furlong will continue his rehabilitation and a decision on his availability, as well as that of Rónan Kelleher, will be made later in the week.

“Ciaran Frawley is on course to return following his recent concussion.”
